'Everywhere is somewhere'
Writing the land, with Stephen Boyce

Saturday 17 September, Shaftesbury

Fee £10 including tea/coffee.

Meet at the Friends Meeting House, Abbey Walk, Shaftesbury at 9.45am. Discussion/coffee. Depart for walk at 10.30, return to FMH around midday and finish at about 1.00pm.

On this walking workshop we shall explore what makes places interesting and distinctive and how to capture in words the special qualities of your ‘patch’, its nature, its history, its character and its meaning to you. You will enjoy ideas, inspiration and practical writing exercises.

Bring comfortable shoes, notebook and pencil.

Stephen Boyce has had a lifelong engagement with the arts and heritage. As a poet he is the author of three full-length collections and three poetry pamphlets, often drawing on the natural world. His essay Twenty Lime Trees and a Fence describes a lane within yards of his front door in Marnhull over the course of a year.

Places are limited to 12, however if we have a high level of requests we may run an additional session later in the autumn.
