Writing the Land

Writing the Land provides an opportunity for a small group to enjoy an author-led activity designed to inspire writing about nature and place. The event happens in Shaftesbury, starting with a cup of tea or coffee, followed by a short writing exercise. Then participants will gather together for a stroll, before returning to capture their thoughts and inspirations in prose or poetry. The first Writing the Land event was held on 17 September 2022 with author Stephen Boyce, and you can read a review here.

Our most recent event took place on 16 September, 2023.

About Jane Adams

Wildlife and wild places have fascinated Jane all her life, but especially since she became a full-time carer sixteen years ago. From 2007 to 2015, she wrote an award-winning online wildlife blog and her writing has featured locally in Dorset magazine, BV magazine and the Dorset Wildlife Trust membership magazine. Nationally, she has written for BBC Countryfile Magazine and BBC Wildlife Magazine and is the author of Nature's Wonders: Moments that Mark the Seasons, an exploration of 50 magical moments that define our seasons. A passionate amateur naturalist, Jane is slightly obsessed with wild bees, wildlife gardening and old gnarly trees.
